I’m Wikus Nortje, a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with experience working in NHS mental health and primary care services. I offer structured, evidence-based CBT therapy online for adults experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, OCD, low mood, stress, and phobias. My clinical experience encompasses a range of common mental health difficulties, as well as supporting individuals whose emotional wellbeing is impacted by physical health concerns and long-term conditions.
In addition to my clinical work, I have expertise in team leadership and clinical supervision within mental health services. This has informed my practice to be clear, collaborative, thoughtful, and focused on helping individuals understand what perpetuates their difficulties.
CBT therapy is an active process. Together, we explore the connections between thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and behavior, developing a mutual understanding of the issues at hand and agreeing upon practical steps to help you progress.
I strive to provide a calm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where you can speak openly and feel truly understood. Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, so the first step is simply to discuss your experiences, identify areas where you seek assistance, and determine if CBT feels like the right fit for you.
Appointments are available online on Thursday evenings, Fridays, and Saturday mornings. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. You can find more information about my services at wikusnortjecbt.
I offer online CBT therapy for adults experiencing a range of anxiety and mood-related difficulties. This structured and collaborative therapy focuses on understanding the underlying factors that sustain these problems, and then building practical ways to move forward.
Anxiety and Worry
If you're struggling with persistent worry, overthinking, tension, or feeling on edge, CBT therapy can provide support. It helps you understand the anxiety cycle and develop more constructive ways to respond.
Panic Attacks
For those dealing with panic attacks, fear of bodily sensations, or the avoidance related to worrying about future episodes, CBT for panic attacks can be transformative. Therapy aids in understanding the panic cycle and gradually rebuilding your confidence.
Health Anxiety
If you find yourself trapped by fears about health, incessantly checking your body, seeking reassurance, or body scanning, CBT can offer support. It enables you to respond differently to health worries and break the cycle of anxiety.
OCD
CBT therapy for OCD addresses intrusive thoughts, compulsions, rituals, and the tendency to seek reassurance. Our approach focuses on understanding the OCD cycle and gradually changing the responses that perpetuate it.
Low Mood
For those facing low mood, decreased motivation, withdrawal, self-criticism, and loss of confidence, CBT provides support. It helps you rebuild your activity level, establish a routine, and regain a sense of progress.
Stress
If you are overwhelmed by work stress, life pressures, or experiencing burnout, we can help. CBT therapy enables you to understand the patterns that maintain your stress and to develop practical coping strategies.
