1. About This Service

Wikus Nortje CBT provides online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for adults.

Therapy is provided by Wikus Nortje, a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist.

These Terms and Conditions explain how the service works, including appointments, fees, cancellations, confidentiality and client responsibilities.

2. Free 15-Minute Consultation

A free 15-minute consultation may be offered before booking therapy.

This consultation is not a therapy session. It is an opportunity to briefly discuss what you are looking for, answer questions, and consider whether CBT may be suitable.

There is no obligation to book therapy after the consultation.

3. Therapy Sessions

Standard CBT sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held online.

Sessions are collaborative and may include assessment, formulation, goal setting, therapy tasks, review of progress and between-session work.

Appointments are currently available on Fridays.

4. Fees

The current fee is:

CBT therapy session: £95 per 50-minute session

Fees may be reviewed from time to time. Any fee changes will be discussed with existing clients in advance.

5. Payment

Payment is required before or at the time of the session, unless otherwise agreed.

Payment details will be provided when booking.

If payment is not received, the appointment may be cancelled or further sessions may be paused until the account is up to date.

6. Cancellations and Missed Appointments

Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a therapy session.

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session fee.

Missed appointments may also be charged at the full session fee.

Exceptions may be made in genuine emergencies or exceptional circumstances.

7. Online Therapy

Online sessions require a private space, a reliable internet connection and a suitable device.

You are responsible for ensuring that you are in a confidential and safe environment for the session.

Sessions should not be recorded by either party unless this has been explicitly discussed and agreed in advance.

If there are technical problems, we will try to reconnect. If this is not possible, we may continue by phone or rearrange, depending on the circumstances.

8. Confidentiality

Therapy is confidential. Information about you will not normally be shared without your consent.

There are some important exceptions. Information may need to be shared if:

  • There is a serious risk of harm to you or another person
  • There is a safeguarding concern involving a child or vulnerable adult
  • There is a legal requirement or court order
  • There is a serious crime or terrorism-related concern
  • Information needs to be discussed in clinical supervision

Where possible, I would usually try to discuss this with you first.

9. Clinical Supervision

As part of safe and ethical practice, clinical work may be discussed with a qualified clinical supervisor.

Identifying details are kept to a minimum wherever possible. Supervision is confidential and supports safe, effective practice.

10. Risk and Crisis Support

Wikus Nortje CBT is not a crisis or emergency service.

If you are at immediate risk, or if someone else is at immediate risk, please call 999, attend A&E, contact NHS 111, speak to your GP, or contact Samaritans on 116 123.

If your needs are outside the scope of this service, I may recommend that you contact your GP, NHS services or another appropriate professional.

11. Suitability

Private online CBT may not be suitable for every difficulty or level of risk.

If, after consultation or assessment, I believe that another service would be more appropriate, I will discuss this with you and may signpost you to alternative support.

12. Client Responsibilities

To get the most from therapy, clients are asked to:

  • Attend sessions on time
  • Give notice if cancelling or rearranging
  • Take part actively in sessions
  • Complete agreed between-session tasks where possible
  • Let me know about changes in risk, medication, mental health support or circumstances that may affect therapy

13. Records and Data Protection

Clinical notes and therapy records are kept securely.

Personal information is handled in line with UK data protection law. More information is available in the Privacy Notice on this website.

14. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, please raise this with me first so I can try to resolve the concern.

If the concern cannot be resolved, you may contact BABCP for information about complaints relating to professional conduct.

15. Ending Therapy

You can choose to end therapy at any time.

Where possible, it is helpful to plan an ending session so that progress can be reviewed and next steps can be discussed.

I may also suggest ending or pausing therapy if CBT no longer appears suitable, if another service is more appropriate, or if appointments are repeatedly missed or unpaid.

16. Changes to These Terms

These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time.

The latest version will be available on this website.
